Description:
Join us this summer for the first DHM Summer Heritage Camps! Each camp runs for five (5) days, Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm.
Kids will have the opportunity to learn about life in Dartmouth’s rich past through authentic historic games, inspired crafts, and loads of good fun.
Campers will get to know Evergreen, the Victorian manor built in 1867, and discover the oddities of Victorian life through card games, flower pressing, and activities created to inspire a love of and interest in the importance of history. They will take a stroll to the downtown core and spend time learning about early Quakers who brought whaling to Dartmouth in the 18th Century while exploring Dartmouth’s oldest standing structure, and finishing up with some good ol’ sea shanties.
Activities Include:
Downtown Dartmouth Historic Scavenger Hunt
Flower Pressing & Victorian Flower Language
Card Games
Three-legged races
Outdoor Games
Notebook Making
Sea Shanties
Daily Schedule:
9am: Drop-off at Evergreen House
12pm: Lunch
4pm: Pick-up from Evergreen House
Caregivers are asked to send children with packed lunches, sunblock, a water bottle, and bug spray. Additionally we recommend sunglasses, hats, and light jackets or sweaters.
Accessibility:
Dartmouth Heritage Museum is committed to being as inclusive as possible. Unfortunately at this time Evergreen and Quaker houses are inaccessible to wheelchair users and may be challenging for others with mobility issues due to stairs and elevation changes between rooms.
If you have any other accessibility concerns please let us know and we will do all we are able to accommodate them.
